“On arrival in HDU of Waikato Hospital 18.12.2005 a male nurse approached my husband Jens and told us, he has been a GBS patient himself! He mentioned the GBS support group to us, who sent out information brochures. Jens also read up about GBS on their website. The best thing was meeting a fellow patient in the Rehab Ward 58 at Waikato!! We got introduced, compared notes and encouraged each other along in the pool, and for exercises, learning to walk etc. We both became members of the support group to “give back”, visit new GBS patients in hospital, meet fellow survivors,  join and organise the local coffee-group, give support in person, by mail, phone call or on Facebook.”
